John Whetton, athlete, winning at Wembley
1964 - Britain's King of The Indoor Tracks'. 22-year-old Loughborough College Physical Training student John Whetton crowned a highly successful season on the indoor athletic track by winning the half mile, 1, 000 meters and 2, 000 meters in the match at Wembley between Great Britain and Finland. Now he will be going all out to get fit for outdoor athletics with his sights firmly fixed on the Tokyo Olympics.
