Jul. 07, 1957 - R.A.F. Planes Go Into Action To Aid Sultan. Rebels Threaten His Territory: Aircraft of the Royal Air Force went into action with a dawn to dusk reconnaissance in support of His Highness Said Bin Taimur, Sultan of Muscat and Oman. Rebel forces against the Sultan are spreading their attacks over an area of 5, 000 square miles. British Military and political advisers have conferred with the Sultan - and he has been given a solemn promise that the British Government will give all necessary aid by ground - air or sea against the rebellics Imam of Oman - Ghalib bin Ali.
