1968 - Blind Argentine Writer and Poet Receives Honorary Doctorate of letters at Oxford University: Jorge Luis Borges, the 71-year-old writer and poet from Argentina, who is on a visit to Britain, yesterday went to Oxford University where he was awarded his honorary Doctorate of Letters Following his visit to Oxford he will have two weeks in London as the guest of the Institute of Contemporary Arts, where he will give four lectures on himself and his work.
