Jul. 07, 1973 - Journalist Wolf Mittler became honorary gondolier. No foreigner until now has had a chance to receive this title except him yet. The well known German radio journalist from Munich was now able to show his friends proudly his new gondola license upon returning from Venice. After finishing a feature story on gondolas in the city of the lagoon, he simply could not resist temptation to try to become a genuine gondolier. Successfully he has passed the strict examinations by a commission of eight gondoliers. Now Wolf Mittler is able to move the 11.40 meters long gondola, which weighs 560 kilos all by himself.
