May 04, 1976 - Julie Covington Of Television's Rock Follies Fame To Portray Eva Peron In New Musical: Julie Covington, who was one of the stars of the television show Rock Follies, has been chosen for one of the year's most coveted musical roles. She will portray Eva Peron, first wife of the late President Peron of Argentina, in a new musical written by Jesus Christ Superstar team Andrew Lloyd-Webber and Tim Rice. The musical will be staged both on Broadway and London. Photo shows Julie Covington who will portray Eva Peron in a new music. (NB: Although Covington sang the role on the concept album, the stage role went to Elaine Paige.)
