Julius Nokulak of Hamburg, eldest active shoemaker
Mar. 27 The Eldest Still Active Shoemaker Of The World is Julius Nokulak from Hamburg, who recently celebrated his 90th. birthday. Our Julius, how he is generally nominated, started his shoemaker education in the year 1904, thus 76 years ago, -and after that he began soling the boots of the soldiers-and that till today. At one time there have been the members of the imperial marine (under them Grossadmiral Tirpitz') and crowned heads, for whom he worked, then, during the Reichswehrzeit he became shoemaker of the Hamburg artillery-government 56, and after the year 1945 to his retirement in the year 1956 he soled the shoes and boots of the English soldiers. But also after that, he didn't stop working, in a little workshop in the commandition of Hamburg, Julius Nokulak went on providing for his soldiers to have proper shoes on their feet.
