Kathleen Beel in BBC series about gifted children
Oct. 10, 1961 - Six year old chosen to appear in Gifted Child Programme: Six and a half year old Kathleen Beel, from Alton Estate, Putney, has been chosen to appear in a programme about the gifted child in the BBC series Perspective which is screened on Thursday afternoons. The youngster, who has a reading age of 14, taught herself chess, and reads avidly as well as writing poetry, was chosen from many contenders after producer Beryl Radley asked for applications on the air.
