Oct. 10, 1961 - Six-year-old girl chosen to appear in Gifted Child Programme: Kathleen Beel, aged six and a half, from Alton Estate, Putney, has been chosen to appear in a programme about the gifted child in the BBC TV series Perspective which is screened on Thursday afternoons. The young girl, who has a reading age of fourteen, has taught herself chess, reads avidly and has written poetry, was chosen from many contenders after producer Beryl Radley asked for application on the air.
