Kathleen Lillystone, Queen of Hardware
Jan. 26, 1968 - Crowning of The Queen Of Hardware: 22-year-old Mrs. Kathleen Lillystone, of Greenford, Middlesex, a shipping clerk, was afternoon crowned Queen of Hardware after being chosen from ten finalists in the Queen of Hardware Contest sponsored by the Hardware Trade Journal; and organised by Universal Exhibitions Ltd. the proprietors of the International Trades Fair. She was crowned with a crown specially created, consisting of 346 brass screws, 55 brass specially alloy screws and six chromium plated dome tops, on a aluminum foundation, riveted and glued. The crowning ceremony was performed by Miss Jennifer Gurley - Miss Great Britain - at Charin Cross Hotel.
