KEF Wayne 706 road sweeper at Elephant and Castle, London
Oct. 10, 1960 - A completely new type of power sweeper, big enough to clean roads, yet sufficiently manoeuvrable to operate in confined spaces, has been purchased by Southwark Borough Council. Called the KEF Wayne 706 it is equipped with a revolutionary type of brush mechanism that enables it to pick up anything from dust to empty bottles. The sweeper is being used in the subways at the Elephant and Castle Development Scheme.
