Kelso Benjamin Cochrane, victim of racial tension in London
May 05, 1959 - Jamaican murdered in race riot area of London. A 32-year old West Indian, Kelso Benjamin Cochrane, a carpenter, was walking home to Bevington Road North Kensington, after attending hospital with a broken thumb early yesterday, when a group of youths challenged him on a street corner: Where are you going Jim Crow'. A running fight developed and Cochrane was stabbed in the chest. Two black men took him to hospital by taxi, but he died a few minutes after admission.
