Ken Gillham with earthquake globe, Colchester

Jan. 27, 1972 - The world's first Earthquake Globe. Colchester School of Art Sculptor - lecturer Ken Gillham, 37, is putting the finishing touches to a 3 ft 6 in diameter terrasphere for permanent exhibition called story of the Earth and due to be opened by the queen in the autumn, at the institute of Geological Sciences in Kensington. It is the only globe of its be translated into two fibre - glass spheres and coloured in the key colours used by geologists. Its purpose will be to shown the earthquake belt of the Earth. Mr. Gillham, shown in picture, has been working on the globe for four months
