Kenneth Drury, head of Flying Squad, Scotland Yard
Feb. 02, 1976 - Yard Chiefs Arrested: Four Former Top Scotland Yard Detectives were arrested early today following claims that Yard men accepted bribes from Soho and West End Pornographers. Among them was ex-commander Ken Drury, 53, former head of the Flying Squad. Warrants were issued for the arrest of 12 men, some officers and others former senior detectives. Nine were taken to Cannon Row police station on charges. Another top man arrested was ex-Commander Wally Virgo, 57, a former Murder Squad chief who retired in 1973. Former Dept Supt William Moody and ex-chief Insp. George Fenwick were also detained. Moody was the former head of the Yard's Obscene Publication Squad, who retired for health reasons in 1974 while under suspension pending investigation. Fenwick was one-time head of No 9 Regional Crime Squad in April 1974. They will appear at Bow Street Court on Monday.
