King Baudouin and Father Georges Pire, Nobel Peace Prize

Nov. 14, 1958 - Father Pire - Nobel Peace prize winner congratulated by King Baudouin. The Dominican friar Father Georges Pire was today received at the Royal Palace in Brussels by King Baudouin and congratulated on his award of the Nobel Peace Prize for 1958. The prize is worth about 15, 000. Father Pire's work in mainly for refugees and displaced persons. He establishes contact between refugees in camps and outside people who declare themselves willing to help - and creates homes in special so-called European Villages for elderly refugees.
