King George V Memorial, Windsor Castle

Windsor has been a burial place for Britain's kings since the days of Edward IV, although eighteen of Britain's monarchs are buried in Westminster Abbey. The Royal Borough of Windsor in Coronation Year: always a must on the list of places for the tourist to visit, Windsor this year is expecting even more visitors than usual. The first Queen Elizabeth reconstructed the North Terrace and walked there every day. The decapitated corpse of King Charles was lost there. King Charles II laid out the famous Long Walk. Windsor owes much to King George III, for all over the town are fine examples of the splendid buildings of his era. Queen Victoria whose statue stands at the bottom of Castle Hill spent most of the years of her widowhood there. Many of the shops in Windsor have the By Appointment sign hanging over their doors and the sovereign very often shops personally in the town
