King of Malaya, signing of independence agreement

Aug. 08, 1957 - Signing of Federation of Malaya Agreement.: The signing of the Federation of Malaya Agreement, which gave Malaya its independence, took place on Monday at King's House, Kuala Lumpor. The agreement, which abrogated the British protectorate over the nine Malay states, was signed on behalf of the Queen by Sir Donald MacGillivray, The High Commissioner. and by the Malay state rulers.
