King Olav V of Norway and Princess Astrid
Feb. 26 On June 16th King Olav V of Norway starts his journey from Oslo to Trondheim, where the bishops of Norway - on June 22nd - will call down a blessing on him in the Nidarosdomen (the Cathedral of Trondheim) where the coronation of the late King Haakon VII took place on June 22nd 1966. King Olav V left his residence, Skaugum near Oslo, together with his daughter Princess Astrid on the morning of June 16th in order to start his journey through Southern Norway. The King is driving in an open cabriolet, and the Royal cortege counts 5 cars while press, radio, TV etc. are following in 12 cars at a speed of 35 kph. The first stop on the journey was Eidsvoll where Norway in 1814 - after the peace of Kiel when Denmark had to make Norway over to Sweden - declared herself to be an independent, unsaleable and indivisible kingdom and where at the same time the Foundation Act was undersigned by officers, farmers, officials delegated from the countries. It was the first time King Olav visited this area
