Krupp cannon used in the 19th century

1970 - This Cannon : (upper deck mount, weight: 72 lbs. length: 180 inches, produced by the Krupp works) was a heavy ordnance 100 years ago, but nowadays it is no longer of great value for military purposes. It was 100 years ago that the cannon could be well used in the war between the German states and France. The war began when the newspaper Emser Depesche of July 13th, 1870, brought a report which excited people in France to that grade that in the end it led to the war between Germany and France in 1870/71. This report was on the talk between King Wilhelm of Prussia with Benedetti and on Napoleon III's demand for an obligatory Prussian waiver in respect of the candidature to the Spanish throne by a member of the Hohenzoller family (German noble family). Bismarck had not altered this report in wording, it is true, but shortened it to that grade before its publication that King William's rejection was intensified more than intended. The ensuing war won the German states under Prussia's leadership. Napoleon III was thrown from his throne and France lost the regions Elsa and Lothringen
