Busoni, Weill emigrated to Paris in 1933, then to New York in 1935. At the beginning he produced instrumental and vocal music. Together with Bertolt Brecht he took part in developing the style of the epic theatre. In his setting to music some works of Brecht he used elements of jazz. From ballades and chansons he formed the belligerent as well as lyrical songs, which are typical of the works of Brecht and Weill, lyrics by B. Brecht, got worldwide fame. Other works: Auftstieg und Fall der Stadt Mahagonny, Der Jasager, Die Burgschaft, Ozeanflug (the text of all of them was written by Bertolt Brecht) and the musical Lost in the Stars'. Kurt Weill, who also composed chamber music, chorus and songs, died on 3 April 1950 in New York
