Jul. 07, 1961 - 37 Million stitches in Kenya Tapestry Panels. More than 37 million stitches, 360 miles of wool and nearly 20, 000 hours of work were required to produce a series of tapestry panels depicting the history and daily life of the people of Kenya. An exhibition of the panels was opened today at the commonwealth Institute in London by Lady Baden-Powell. photo shows Lady Baden Powell looking at one of the tapestry panels - it shows the Treetops hotel at Nyeri where the Queen was spending the night when she succeeded to the throne
