Jun. 06, 1981 - The Man Who Tried To Stop Lady Diana At Ascot: Steward Robin Russell tried to stop Lady Diana Spencer from entering the Royal enclosure at Ascot yesterday. Lady Diana who was not wearing one, just stood their lost for words, until a friend rushed up and told Robin that this was Lady Diana. But Robin who has been a gatekeeper for the last two years, said; Well, she still has to show a badge'. Then a royal aide ran up and said: This lady is all right. I can vouch for her, Later Mr Russell said: I do feel a bit of a heel, and I hope I don't get into trouble over this'. Now I have seen her in person I can't forget. She is very lovely'.
