British Exhibition in Houston, Texas: In spite of allegations that the Britannic Festival in Houston is not being sufficiently supported by industry in Great Britain which should seize this chance to advertise British products to the American market, the exhibition seems to be a great success. Dress designers like Hardy Amies and John Cavanaugh are showing their most impressive ideas in clothes for the winter season, the Brigade of the Irish Guards is giving public performances, there are concerts by the Houston Symphony Orchestra conducted by Sir John Barbirolli and a programme of Shakespeare plays with Sir Donald Wolfit, a naval visit by the first British guided missile cruiser, a photograph exhibition of British architecture, British films at the downtown cinema, exhibitions of British painters and inundations of products by British firms famous in America notably Rolls Royce. Photo shows the charity ball which opened the Festival with Lord Harlech, British Ambassador to the US and his wife as guests of honour, the Guards, the Fashion shows and other scenes during the Festival.
