Lancaster bomber flies home to Biggin Hill, Kent

May 14, 1965 - 14-5-65 The last of Britain's Lancaster Bombers flies home to the Annual Air Pageant at Biggin Hill. G for George, the last of Britain's famous Lancaster bombers touched down at Biggin Hill, Kent, yesterday, after an epic 13, 000-mile flight. The World War II veteran landed at the annual air pageant at Biggin Hill, the wartime fighter base in Kent, so ending its last mission, a sentimental journey from Australia to Britain. As the famous bomber landed the crowds surged forward to give it a sentimental welcome home. A public subscription raised £10, 000 to get it back to Britain.
