Larkspur of Ireland winning the Epsom Derby

Jun. 06, 1962 - Sensational Derby 1962: The 1962 Derby was won by 22-1 Larkspur of Ireland - and of the 26 entrants six finished riderless, including the favourite Hethersett and the Queen's Jockey W.H. Carr, in one of the the worst accidents seen at Epsom, today. One of the the horses, King Canute, broke a leg an had to be destroyed near the scene of the accident: down the hill towards Tattenham Corner, six Furlongs from the finish.
