Launch of liner Oriana by Princess Alexandra
Nov. 11, 1959 - Princess Alexandra launchers liner. H.R.H. princess Alexandra today launched the liner, Oriana - the largest built in Britain since the queen Elizabeth at barrow in furriness. The 40, 000 ton liner was built at the vickers Armstrong yard for the orient line, and is expected to go into service between Britain and Australia at the end of next year. photo shows The new liner going down the slipway, at today's launching
