Launch of liner Oriana by Princess Alexandra
Nov. 11, 1959 - Princess Alexandra Launches Liner: H.R.H Princess Alexandra today launched the liner Oriana - the largest built in Britain since the Queen Elizabeth at Barrow in Furness. The 40, 000 ton liner was built at the Vickers Armstrong yard for the Orient Line, and is expected to go into service between Britain and Australia at the end of next year.
