Launch of Photo Fit, with James Callaghan's face

Mar. 27 New facial identification technique launched. : A revolutionary British invention which will aid police forces throughout the world in the detection of crime was launched today, at the Savoy hotel London. Known as Photo Fit it is completely new kind of facial identification technique manufactured by John Waddington limited in conjunction with in police planning organization at the home office and in the inventor Mr. Jacques Penry. The Penry photo technique uses actual photographs instead of line drawing of the various facicial feature and enables operators to build up very simply, a realistic composite face. It incorporates 81 pairs of eyes, 78 noses, 86 mouths 64 chins and cheek outlines 160 foreheads and hirlines and countless varieties (Illegible) and headwear that will give perpetuations and combination totaling five thousand four hundred million faces.
