1970 - New facial Identification technique launched.: A revolutionary British invention which will aid police forces throughout the world in the detection of crime, was launched today, at the Savoy Hotel, London. Known as Photo-Fit it is a completely new kind of facial identification technique manufactured by John Waddington Limited in conjunction with the Police Planning Organisation at the Home Office and in the inven, Mr. Jacques Penry. The Penry Photo-Fit techniques uses actual photographs instead of line drawings of the various facial features and enables operators to build up, very simply, a realistic composite face. It incorporates 81 pairs of eyes, 70 noses, 86 mouths, 64 chins and cheek outlines, 169 foreheads and hairlines and countless varieties of moustaches, beards, spectacles and headwear that will give permutations and combinations totalling five thousand four hundred million faces. Photo shows during a demonstrations of Photo-Fit, Mr. Jacques Penry, the inventor, holds up a finished portrait, made up from various facial parts of Photo-Fit, which eventually formed the face of Home Secretary, Mr. James Callaghan
