Jan. 01, 1959 - Lauren Bacall attends starting of work on New Cinema. Hollywood film star Lauren Bacall, who is here to prepare for her co-starring role with Kenneth More in North West Frontier, today broke a bottle of champagne over a bulldozer, in a ceremony to mark the start of work on the new Odeon theatre at Hemel Hempstead. The 1, 200 seat Odeon is the first theatre in Britain to be planned and built by the Rank Organization since the war. It is also the first to be started in any of the new towns.
