Feb. 29 Churchill And His Mother: A New Version Of His Early Life For TV: Winston Churchill, One of the greatest war figures of all time has fascinated authors, playwrights and filmmakers. But now the mother behind the man is having her turn in British television's new epic series of seven hour-long plays. Jennie, Lady Randolph Churchill'. The series has been made to coincide with the Churchill Centenary Year and shows intriguing new facts about his background and early days. It stars Lee Remick as Jennie Jerome, the American who became the wife of Lord Randolph Churchill and mother of Winston; quite a dynamic character in her own right. Warren Clarke plays the part of Winston Churchill, and appears in all but the first 3 of the 7 episodes as Winston between the ages of 16 and 47. The series is being filmed in such famous places as Salisbury Hall, where Jennie lived with her second husband, George Cornwallis-West; and old Warden Airfield, one of Britain's famous World War II air field on which is housed a collection of Veteran aircraft.
