May 05, 1963 - Monty of the flying squad becomes Jim Hardie of Wells Fargo: Ex-Detective Inspector Leonard Monty Mountford of Scotland Yard's flying squad has taken on a new job in security at American Express, the firm founded by Wells Fargo 113 years ago. In the TV Wells Fargo programme, the character Jim Hardie is in charge of security in the wild west. Unlike Jim Hardie, Mr. Mountford doesn't carry a gun, but he is a keen marksman and horseman and has also built up a collection of about 300 antique firearms including pistols owned by Goering, Captain Cook, Clive of India, Talleyrand, and a sheriff of Dallas.
