Feb. 02, 1976 - Leonard Williams buys an Old Cornish Castle that everyone loved but nobody wanted: Battered by storms and gale force wind, ripped apart by vandals, Carn Brea became the castle everyone loved but nobody wanted. For 600 years this former hunting lodge and inland lighthouse dominated the twin towns of Cambourne and Redruth, But in recent times the famous historic landmark locked all sit to collapse into a beap of unwanted granite - until Leonard Williams, a Gornishman in his mid-fifties stepped in. Last year he bought the decaying building. He is now in the process of a massive restoration job and is planning to have a small restaurant in the castle where summer visitors to Carn Brea will be able to enjoy Cornish Dream teas in a magnificent setting 738-feet above the sea with views over the whole of West Cornwall.
