Jul. 07, 1968 - Jockey Lester Piggott Is Thrown From His Mount Ribero At Ascot Today: Jockey Lester Piggott parted company from his mount Ribero when he was thrown as the entries for the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes were parading in front of the stand before the start of the race at Ascot today. The horse galloped off round the course but was eventually caught. Piggott remounted and took part in the race, finishing fourth.
