Lewisham rail disaster, SE London
Dec. 12, 1957 - Rescue work goes on - the Lewisham rail crash engineers try to raise the fly-over bridge: The death roll has now reached 92 in Wednesday night's Lewisham rail crash. Rescuers have toiled all night under are lights and early this morning engineers were trying to raise the wrecked bridge to clear the coach on which the full weight of the fly-over bridge fall. Photo shows the first clear picture of the disaster taken after the fog had lifted today showing the fly-over bridge which collapsed on one of the trains after the crash. In the foreground is a guard's van which was completely wrecked
