Dec. 12, 1957 - 61 killed and 200 injured in Lewisham rail disaster: 61 people were killed and more than 200 injured last night, when two packed rush-hour trains crashed in the fog at Lewisham, South East London, last night. The rearing wreckage of the trains smashed into a viaduct down onto the wreckage. Photo shows with hastily applied bandages, less seriously injured passengers are helped to the top of the embankment after the crash last night.
