Dec. 12, 1957 - Rescue Work Goes on in the Lewisham Rail Crash Engineers Shore Up the Fly Over Bridge. The death roll has now reached 92 in Wednesday night's Lewisham Wail crash. Rescuers have toiled all night under arc lights and early this morning engineers are trying to raise the wrecked bridge to drag clear the coach on which the full weight of the fly over bridge fall.
