Dec. 12, 1957 - Tragic Rush hour train Crash in Lewisham London.: More than forty people are feared to have lost their lives by the crash of the 4-56 steam train from Cannon-Street-to deal into the rear of the 5-18 electric train from Charing Cross to Hayes - soon after 6 p.m just outside St. John's Station, Lewisham. Part of the wreckage crashed into supports of the flyover -bringing it down on hesmashed trains.
