1991 - Landsgemeinde Traditional Swiss Votings. The people's general assembly named Landsgemeinde of the small Swiss canton Appenzell Ausserrhoden was held April 28th. The inhabitants gather together, discuss the affairs of their State and vote directly by hand to elect their governing officers. For the first time women were allowed to vote. Appenzell Innerrhoden was the last district in Switzerland, where women had not the voting right.
