Lieutenant-General Walter Krupinski, West German air force

Feb. 29 Federal Minister of Defence, Georg Leber, discharged two general of the West German air force: The Federal Minister of Defence, Georg Leber, has discharged the commanding general of the West German air force, lieutenant general Walter Krupinski and the second in command of the air force, major general Karl Heinz Franke because of having said things, which were beyond certain limits. In a talk with journalists they had defended the invitation of Second World War veteran Hans Ulrich Rudel, who has been active in right wing movements after the war, to a traditional meeting of former Luftwaffe members and members of the Federal German Army. They had said, that this could not be objected to as long as leftish extremists and communists, who used to be in Moscow, like Herbert Wehner, are members of the Federal Diet, Herbert Wehner is the parliamentary leader of the SPD. Meanwhile the cabinet ministers have agreed to the discharge. It is said, that General Walter Krupinski thinks of objecting to the discharge in court. Photo shows lieutenant-general Walter Krupinski
