Little girl with swearing parrot, Islington, North London
Aug. 08, 1968 - Bid to abate the four-letter parrot. The language of Charlie, the parrot, matches his blue father - according to neighbours. Mr. Ronald Ginger Bowen, who lives in Camden Passage, only a parrot squawk away from the home of Charlie's owner, writer Heather Standing, in Duncan Terrace, Islington, London, said, I was shocked by its knowledge of swear words. Mr. Bowen was so shocked that he went to the Noise abatement society. Then he and two other people signed a public letter to Charlie's owner that she may be prosecuted if the nuisance - Charlie, that is - is not removed. Photo shows Mrs Heather Standing's 8-year old daughter, Abigail, with Charlie the parrot in their back garden today
