Lloyd car, manufactured in Bremen, Germany
Feb. 29 Cheaper Than The People's Car': A German Baby Car For 300 To Compete In The World Markets: With British car manufacturers fighting to sell small, cheap-to-run cars in the export markets, the German Lloyd car is proving to be an even greater competitor than the famous Volkswagen or People's Car, first thought of by Hitler. The Lloyd, made in Bremen, has a motor of 400 cubic centimentres capacity, and sells for 3, 500 Marks at the works. Manufacture is maintained by the 2, 000 workers employed. The car reaches a top speed of 50 mph and compares very favourably with the more expensive Volkswagen, and British baby cars in every other way.
