London to Calais in seagoing four-poster bed
Aug. 08, 1972 - Three Men Set Sail For Calais In A Four Poster Bed: Three men, Tom Welsh, Mike Pilkington, both from Cheshire, and David Speed, from Yorkshire, set sail today in a four-poster bed mounted on an inflatable rubber boat in an attempt to cross the Channel to Calais. The boat has an outboard motor that can power it up to 25 MPH. Photo Shows: The seagoing four-poster with its three man crew sets off from the Royal Albert Marina Dock basin on the River Thames to cross the Channel to Calais today
