Aug. 08, 1979 - Lord Mountbatten killed in boat blast :Lord Mountbattan of Burma, 79 Admiral of the and the Viceroy of India was assassinated during a fishing trip with members of his family yesterday as they left Mollaghmore Harbor Co Sligo. His grand son Nicholas Brabourne, 14, and an Irish crewman Paul Maxwell, 16, were also killed on the bomb blast. Three other family members were seriously injured, they are the Earl's daughter lady Brabourne her husband Lord Brabourne the Dowager Lady Brabourne, and the twin brother of the dead Nicholas are seriously ill in the intensive care unit of Sligo General Hospital.
