Lord Lucan's coronet and coronation robes sold by auction
May 28, 1976 - Lord Lucan's Coronet and Coronation Robe sold by auction in London for 20. The Earl of Lucan's coronet and crimson and ermine robe, a family heirloom, suffered the ultimate indignity yesterday, when as lot 188, they were sold to a New Bond Street antique dealer for 20 at Christie's auction rooms, South Kensington, London. The proceeds of the sale will go towards settling Lord Lucan's debts reckoned at $70, 000. He vanished 18 months ago after the murder of Mrs Sandra Rivett, his children's nanny. There is a warrant out for his arrest in connection with her death. Photo shows: Miss Philippa Mansergh, a buyer for a Mayfair antiques firm, leaving Christie's yesterday with the missing Earl of Lucan's coronet and ermine robes after she had successfully bid 20 for them
