Lord Montague of Beaulieu with Daimler, Westminster

Jul. 07, 1969 - Lord Montague of Beaulieu drives an 1899 Daimler into house of Commons Yard; Lord Montague of Beaulieu today drove an 1899 12 hp Daimler into the House of Commons yard just 70 years after his father drove the same car here. It was the very first motor vehicle to park in the yard. And it was only allowed in after Lord Montague's father, then Walter Douglas Scott Montagu, MP, had appealed to the Speaker because the policeman at the gate would not let him in.
