Lord Mountbatten drives Silver Ghost Rolls Royce, London
Apr. 17 Vintage Rolls Royce Driven By Lord Mountbatten Through London. One of Britain's most historic cars, a 1924 Rolls Royce Silver Ghost, was driven by Lord Mountbatten from RAC headquarters in Pall Mall to the Ford Showrooms in Regent Street, when he opened the RAC's 75th Anniversary Exhibition, The Age of the Motor Car, today. The car is the first completely streamlined Rolls Royce ever built and was designed personally by Lord Mountbatten with the help of Barkers, the coach builders. By alterations to the radiator height and the door-line, Lord Mountbatten gave the Rolls a modern appearance long ahead of its time and Rolls Royce retained their appearance for may years.
