May 05, 1947 - Viceroy Visits Frontier Province. The Viceroy of India, Lord Mountbatten, recently paid a visit to the Frontier Province of India, where there has been much communal riots in recent weeks. In a crowded two-day visit, the Viceroy visited the Khyber Pass, saw villages which had been wrecked in rioting in the Rawalpindi district, and addressed a tribal jirga at Landi Kotal.
