1959 - ADMIRAL OF THE FLEET LEAVES THE NAVY AFTER FORTY-SIX YEARS SERVICE Admiral of the Fleet EARL MOUNTBATTEN left the Navy yesterday after 46 years service, during which he rose from a 13-year-old cadet to First Sea Lord.
