Aug. 08, 1979 - Lord Mountbatten killed by IRA Bomb while out fishing Lord Mountbaten, 79, was killed yesterday when a 50lb bomb planted in his boat by the IRA blasted the 29ft Shw V, out of the water, three other members of the family died and also a crewman. It happened just after the boat had left Mullaghmore Harbour, Co Sligo, Ireland on a fishing trip.
