Lord Olivier and wife demonstrate outside Soviet Embassy

Nov. 07, 1973 - Lord Olivier in protest demonstration; 30 British stage stars, led by Lord Olivier yesterday staged a protest outside the Soviet Embassy in London against the persecution of two Russian dancers, unaware that earlier Valery Panov and his wife Galina had called off a five day hunger strike in Leningrad. The dancers, who began their hunger strike last Friday and announced they would starve to death if they were refused permission to leave the country, were told by the Russians that they would be allowed to leave Russia within two months. They had applied for Visas to emigrate to Israel. Photo Shows Lord Olivier and his wife, Joan Plowright, during yesterday's demonstration outside the Russian Embassy in London
